  • Zambia dubs Edgar Lungu as President

As of last night 10 pm, ex-minister of defence and security and member of the Patriotic Front, Edgar Lungu is the president of Zambia, winning 48.3% of majority votes against his counterpart who lost by 46.7% votes. A close tie in this riveting presidential elections falling on the death of President Michael Sata in the close of last year.Lungu is set to be sworn in Today, and will serve the remaining of the late Sata’s term until the next general elections next year.

  • Jackie Selebi passes while under medical parole

Ex-police chief and freedom fighter died while under medical parole, serving his 15 year sentence on corruption charges. According to Eyewitness News, Selebi was in an induced coma for two and a half weeks and died overnight, prior to suffering from kidney problems, diabetes and a stroke. Burial and funeral proceedings have yet to be announced.

  • MSF Hospital under bombing siege in Sudan

The MSF hospital in South Kordofan region in Sudan was under bombing attacks mid-day on Friday, while 150 staff and patients occupied the vicinity. The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) fighter jet dropped a cluster of 13 bombs on the area, of which 2 landed inside the hospital compound and 11 outside the hospital fence. one patient and msf worker were injured, but the major damages ripple on the hospitals infrastructure. The attack occurred in light of rebel – Khartoum government wars.
