Members of the public are invited to attend a public meeting at Baie Ste Anne Praslin Community Centre on Saturday 8th of April at 3.00pm and on Mahé on Monday 10th of April at CEPS Conference room Orion mall at 4.00pm.
In view of strengthening the framework for the respect and guarantee of human rights in Seychelles, there is currently a White Paper process underway on the ‘Seychelles Human Rights Commission Bill’, which seeks to establish a new institution to replace the present National Human Rights Commission.
In view of the new institution having a significant role in promotion and protecting human rights, it is vital that the Bill establishing the Commission be developed through a process that is inclusive, taking into account the diverse points of views arising from our community.
In this view, and in addition to ongoing consultations with relevant governmental and non-government stakeholders, the Government in collaboration with the Civil Engagement Platform Seychelles (CEPS) will be holding two public meetings to engage the community and collect relevant perspectives on the Bill. Members of the public are invited to attend a public meeting at Baie Ste Anne Praslin Community Centre on Saturday 8th of April at 3.00pm and on Mahé on Monday 10th of April at CEPS Conference room Orion mall at 4.00pm.
Comments can also be submitted on the Government’s web portal at www.gov.sc which will remain open for comments until the 13th of April 2017. Soft copies of the Bill are available on the website, and hard copies will be made available at the CEPS Offices in Orion Mall.
