This past Friday, six high profile actors and theatre practitioners flew in to Botswana to facilitate workshops based on the theatre industry across the country.
As part of the ‘Shakespear wa tshela’ project, the practitioners including South Africa’s actress Nobulali Dangazele and UK’s Artistic Director Natalie Ibu will be hosting workshops in government and private schools in Gaborone and Maun between March 18th to March 24th 2016.
Project Director Alistair Hagger expressed his delight to welcome the renowned artists of high caliber, further stating that he is sure that the positive impact of these artists will make on students teachers and actors in the country will be transformational and long lasting.
The practitioners could not have come at a more significant time, just a few weeks shy from the nation’s biggest arts festival, Maitisong Arts Festival. Through marrying the global celebration of 400 years in a post-Shakespear world we continue the preservation and skills uptake of an industry that shows potential for economic diversification.
